Voice teacher Tara Wallace is in her 32nd year of singing training and 15th year of vocal teaching. She began the Hummingbird Conservatory with two objectives – provide singers with excellent vocal technique and musicianship while giving them ample performance opportunities and collaborative experiences with other musicians and performers. Now in its 11th year, The Hummingbird Conservatory singers have been seen performing at New York's famed Carnegie Hall and London's Royal Festival Hall in National Honors choirs at both the middle school and high school level as well as on the LA Opera stage, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, in regional, community and school performances, including the Glendale Center Theatre, Panic! Productions, the West Valley Playhouse, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) Summer Program, Escape! Theatricals, the UCLA Summer Vocal Intensive, the UCLA Summer Musical Theater Intensive, the Eastman Summer Vocal Intensive, The Brevard Summer Intensive for Classical Voice, Interlochen Summer Arts Program, The Summer Program at Lawrence College, the La Jolla Playhouse Theatrical Intensive, the Rubicon Summer Intensive, the LA Opera Summer Vocal Program, the Montrose Oktoberfest, the Montrose Christmas Tree Lighting, and the LA Opera 90001 Program to name only a few!

Students from the Hummingbird Conservatory have been accepted into some of the most prestigious collegiate programs in the country, including Eastman School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, The Jacobs School at Indiana University, Boston University, The School of Music at the University of Hawaii, the Music School at Cal State Northridge, UCLA's School of Theatre, Film and TV, USC's School for Dramatic Arts, Loyola - Chicago, San Diego State University, the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB, Chapman University, Pepperdine University, San Gabriel School for the Performing Arts, and the Los Angeles County School for the Arts.  Students of Hummingbird are musically affluent in other instruments and ensembles as well appearing with the Los Angeles Children's Chorus, the Los Angeles Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Honors Choir, the Los Robles Children's Choir and several notable honors ensembles. They have also performed in their school talent shows, advanced choirs at Middle Schools and High Schools in both Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, church performances and summer camps. Some have even appeared on KTLA news, the LA Times and on the cover of the Malibu Times!​

In the 2025-2026 season, the Hummingbirds received Superior ratings with the National Federation of Music Club's Junior Festival. They have placed in local and regional Festivals and competitions. They have received music scholarships and awards from their local high schools and have received state honors with the Certificate of Merit Vocal Competition as part of the Music Teachers Association of California. Students of Hummingbird also competed and placed in regional music festivals, California Regional and All State Choirs with the Southern California Vocal Association, received Musicianship awards in the California Forum Music Festivals and were finalists with the LAYPO Chamber Music Series.

Her adult students range from working professionals to highly skilled amateur enthusiasts in the musical theater, choral and classical worlds. They have appeared with regional and professional performing houses and choirs all over the world working with such notable conductors as Dr. KuanFen Liu, Sir John Rutter and Keith Lockhart.

In addition, Ms. Wallace’s studio has commissioned and debuted new theatrical works for young performers including The Case of the Fallen Elf and Blitzen Sneezes by Robert Weibezahl both of which were featured in the Dramatists’ Guild Magazine.

Ms. Wallace holds double Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance and Music and Arts Management. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Southern California Vocal Association, the Music Teachers National Association, the Music Teachers Association of California – Pleasant Valley Ventura County and is one of the founding members of the Ventura County Federation of Music Clubs. She is a voice student of Claudine Carlson.

Tyler holds a Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance as well as fully supplemented his education with a Masters of Music degree in Choral Conducting. Tyler has a foundation for teaching with a tremendous amount of application in performance and pedagogy. Tyler has been teaching for 20 years to all ages offering lessons, masterclasses, adjudications, lecture recitals and collaborative performances. Nadia Becker is a fifth-generation piano teacher who aims to instill a love of music into her students. Using a holistic approach by teaching technique, sight reading, improvisation, repertoire of various genres, theory, and composition, Nadia's teaching method produces students who are well-rounded and independent musicians. I am a graduate of Cal Arts, earning a BFA in piano performance. Principle teachers are Peter Yazbeck and Earle Voorhies. Originally from Los Angeles, pianist, Noëlle Compinsky Tinturin has a strong background in classical music, and has performed as soloist, accompanist, in orchestras, and as a chamber music artist extensively throughout California, Puerto Rico, and Europe. She studied piano with her aunt, pianist, Sara Compinsky, and chamber music and orchestral music with her father, violinist and conductor, Manuel Compinsky, both members of the internationally acclaimed Compinsky Trio. Noëlle continued her musical education at Mt. St. Mary's College, CSUN, and USC. She has been teaching and performing for over 50 years, and offers a complete music education for students of all levels from beginning to advanced, including note and rhythm reading, listening skills, piano technique, music theory, effective practice strategies, repertoire, and performance skills. She has many award-winning students at the Tinturin Music Studio. Noëlle has recorded four CDs, and her numerous piano solo videos are featured on her YouTube channel.

Zarema Seymour was born in Pskov, Russia. She majored in Piano Performance at St. Petersburg State University. In 1995, she received her master’s degree in music education. At the time, she was working as a Piano Teacher, and as an Accompanist for Cello and Violin Students as well as Choreography classes at local Music schools, and at Private Schools with emphasis on Art. Zarema has been living and working in United States since 1995. Since 2004, she has been residing, and teaching private piano at her home studio, as well as group music lessons at Montessori Learning Center, in Ventura.

Dr. Leslie Dennis Rigney, Ph.D. in vocal pedagogy (UCLA), is an experienced instructor of applied voice and beginning to intermediate piano. Dr. Rigney teaches music fundamentals to students of all ages: music reading and writing, pitch matching, music theory, and live performance. Niccole Modell is a passionate music educator and performer with a rich and diverse background. As the owner of Modell Music Studio in Camarillo, CA, she offers personalized flute and piano lessons, nurturing students of all ages and skill levels. Niccole's teaching philosophy emphasizes creativity, technique, and a love for music, making every lesson a rewarding experience.

In addition to her studio work, Niccole is a dedicated performer. She plays the flute with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic and is an adjunct flute professor at California Lutheran University. Her performances at weddings and special events showcase her versatility and talent.

Niccole holds a Master’s degree in Flute Performance from California State University Fresno, where she studied under Teresa Beaman. She also graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in flute and piano performance from La Sierra University, where she studied with renowned instructors Dr. Martin Glicklich, Peter Sheridan, and Dr. Elvin Rodriguez. She also completed the prestigious Performer Certificate program.

I would like you to know something about my background in Music.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. I was a piano studies major and studied piano pedagogy and early childhood development. I have been a piano teacher for over 30 years.

I am a board member of the Pleasant Valley Ventura Co. Branch of Music Teachers Association of California and have served two terms as branch president and 20 years as Certificate of Merit chairperson. I am a member of the Federation of Music Clubs and National Guild Auditions. I have been a judge for all these organizations.
